The City of
Yonkers
Yonkers has
always been a special place for Empress. It houses the company's
corporate headquarters as well as provide the City's busy 911 ambulance
contract. Since 1985, Empress has provided the City with
unparalleled patient care services and a variety of community
outreach programs.
Within the system, Empress answers over 16,000 911 calls for
service each year. Nine-one-one calls are initially answered by the
Yonkers Police Department with caller information forwarded to
the Empress communications center. After dispatching the closest
appropriate units, Empress dispatchers maintain contact with the caller and
provide pre-arrival instructions which may include CPR,
childbirth, and bleeding control.
In an effort to improve upon the company's exceptional response
times, in 1994 Empress adopted the nationally recognized System
Status Management system. The system places ambulances in
strategic areas throughout the City in response to demand
analysis. The system allows Empress to anticipate high volume
call times and regions, improving response times.
